If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my two years of having children, it’s that Etsy and Amazon are your best friends. Especially when you need to throw a party together the week the people are going to show up at your house!
This time, for Watson’s second birthday (um, what!?), we had a construction truck themed party. This boy is all about a truck. Brrrrrrm brrrrrm, beeeeep beeep! We have heard that all day long from him for the past year, so it made sense to theme it around excavators, front loaders, backhoes, skid steer loaders… you know, the whole gang. (I’m a boy mom, so I know these things now.)
You know it was my mission to make this truck party cute, right? You may remember his first birthday was Peter Rabbit themed, which was all things adorable. I mean, bunnies are pretty much the most adorable creatures on the planet if you ask me. But I wasn’t going to let some construction tape and heavy machinery keep me from throwing a cute soiree for our two year old.
Publix made our cake, cupcakes, fried chicken, and macaroni salad, so thank goodness for them too. I asked for a plain white cake and then I just crushed up some oreos and put a mini truck on the top to add some decoration.
The cake topper and cupcake toppers are both from an Etsy shop called Two Confetti Cupcakes. The owner was so wonderful to work with. I decided I wanted the colors to be a little richer than what I told her, so I colored them in with a crayon.
I ordered these construction hats from Amazon. I don’t think any of the kids actually wore them, but they looked cute!
As for our favors, I filled these yellow buckets with mini construction trucks, these stickers, and these construction duckies. The favor tags are from Minted.
My favorite part of the whole day was when everyone was singing Happy Birthday to Watson. It took a few seconds, but then he realized everyone was looking at him and singing only to him. I could tell it made him feel so special because he got the cutest bashful smile on his face.
I was so thrilled that my mom could be here this year. You may remember me talking about how sad I was last year because she was in the hospital and had to miss his first birthday party. So that made it so special for me!
Is this not the cutest banner? I take zero credit whatsoever. Lauren with Peachy Paper Crafts can make any color combination, style, and design you’d like. She was a dream to work with and I loved how high quality/thick the paper felt.
Brrrm Brrrm… Beep Beep! This felt letter board is from Amazon.
Since Watson’s birthday party was the day before Easter, we had the kiddos use their yellow buckets to scoop up eggs in an Easter Egg hunt!
Also, the dress I’m wearing is by Persifor and my sandals are by TKEES. Comfy comfy!
Happy Birthday to our sweet, funny boy! We simple adore you, Watson, and it’s our greatest blessing in the whole wide world to get to love you forever and ever.
