A few weeks ago, Lilly Pulitzer reached out to me with a super exciting opportunity for our family to become the “face” of Lilly’s new Salt in the Air collection. (Which launched today!!) To be totally honest, my first thought was that I’m really not the quintessential “Lilly girl” and I wondered if I’d do a good job. I’ve always loved the brand, but I typically just wear pieces that are in my “safe zone”–solid colors like white, blue, blush, and black. But as I gave it a little more thought, I started to really fall in love with the sneak peaks of the fabrics that I was shown and the story behind it. (The print designers painted fun parts of their own tropical vacation—sailing, beachside bungalows, palm trees, etc. to make up this really fun design.) And then I started imagining matching Watson and Rosie in their little outfits… and then I decided, “Ok, this is a no brainer!!”
When I got everything in the mail, I first noticed how stunning the colors were in person and how soft the fabrics were. Then I saw the little baby shift dress for Rosie and after gushing for a few seconds, I decided that maybe I am a “Lilly girl” and just didn’t know it!
Maybe it was the PERFECT (and I mean, perfect) spring weather we had the morning we met Julie Livingston at the Charleston City Marina to take these photos, but I swear that wearing these bright, fun prints made me so happy and cheerful. Don’t even care if that sounds corny—it’s true! Funny story: I ran into the grocery store to order Watson’s birthday cake after this shoot. Brandon had gone on to work, but Watson, Rosie, and I were all still dressed in these clothes. This sweet lady said, “Did you mean to match?? So cute!” I was so tempted to say, “Oh my gosh, I didn’t even realize!!”
But back to the point… insert: the moment I truly hopped on the Lilly train. I came home and while Watson and Rosie napped, I popped over to the Lilly Pulitzer website and picked out all of my favorite styles. So, prepare to see me in some bright, fun colors this spring and summer!
Speaking of favorites, here are some standouts from the collection. The dress I’m wearing is so comfortable and flattering. I also love this one, which has UPF sun protection in it. And I love the easy breezy shape of this one!
Outside of this collection, there are a lot of other pretty new arrivals that caught my eye. How pretty is this popover dress? Just like the one I linked above, this also offers sun protection. Then there’s this Kailen Set—you can wear the pieces together or separately. The girls at Lilly also sent me these navy scalloped shorts and they are so good. We all need a pair. The 4″ inseam is my favorite length for shorts—plus they have an elastic waist! Honestly just so comfortable and flattering. And this top. I want to live in it.
One other fun fact: The classic sailboat we are standing in front of in a lot of these pictures… see it? It’s called Juno. Read about it here!
Thank you to my sweet friends at Lilly Pulitzer for partnering on this post.
