Styling a vignette is one of my favorite things to do. Switching up a few books here and some art there can make a huge difference in the way a space looks and feels.
Styling a vignette is one of my favorite things to do. Switching up a few books here and some art there can make a huge difference in the way a space looks and feels. But it can also be a little tricky! Finding the right balance of decor on a shelf or a table takes a lot of trial and error. Trust me, sometimes I spend days trying different options until I settle on something I like. And then I change it again a few days later… ha!
I thought today I’d share five styling options using our Bungalow 5 4-Drawer Ming Dresser as an example. I showed it to you first in this post where I shared our guest room refresh. The clean lines of the dresser and the gorgeous lacquered grasscloth make it the perfect space to style. Be sure to let me know which look is your favorite in the comments section!
Adding a vase with a flower or palm on top of a dresser is a simple addition that makes a big impact. Also, a framed photo is a nice personal touch. I kept the mirror as a backdrop in all five of these looks!
The simple approach is always something I love. It really lets the piece of furniture show off.
A lamp brings a lot of warmth and coziness to a space. Don’t forget that you can also make decor functional, like how the small bowl atop the books serves as a focal point and a jewelry catchall.
Here’s a layered look I love with a personal photo, artwork, and a center focal point.
Adding artwork is always a nice way to go. This one is by Marquin Campbell. You don’t even have to hang it on the wall. Sometimes just leaning it either directly on the wall or layered on top of another artwork or mirror is totally fine! I also added an oyster ball that I found at Homegoods. This is a great symbol of our lifestyle here on the coast of the lowcountry. Oysters are a staple in the Charleston diet, can be found all across the coastline, and make great decoration!
Also, for any of you that reached out because you were interested in purchasing a Ming 4-Drawer dresser like this, the website is now shoppable making it very easy for you to get one of your own. This company creates so many other gorgeous styles and sizes of furniture that I think you’ll also love!
Oh, and if you have any questions about this dress or other parts of the room, check out my guest room refresh post or please feel free to ask away in the comments. (You can also see how I originally styled the dresser in that post!)
