I quickly took a few pics on my phone of our living room because I’ve been meaning to share the paint color with you guys! A full living room post will come soon… we have a few new things to add, like pillows, possibly a new rug, etc. But the paint color is mastered. (After a couple failed attempts!)

You may recall that we painted the room Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee, but as much as I tried to love it, I just couldn’t. It was too yellow in our room. Keep in mind that paint looks different in every setting, so it may look beautiful in one place, but look entirely different in another.

But first, if you’re new here, then here’s a look at our living room with the original paint color, Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray. Check out this post and then this post. I knew I wanted something lighter and brighter, but I didn’t want it to feel stark white, so Swiss Coffee seemed like a great option.

And then here’s a photo showing Swiss Coffee on the left and Agreeable Gray on the right in the kitchen. (Brandon divided off the room with trimwork, so that’s what you’re seeing in process below.)

Here it was on more walls. (This is Swiss Coffee, remember, not our final paint color!)

See how it has a little yellow tone to it?

The color was beautiful, but it made our living room feel different. It’s AMAZING how big of a role paint can play in the way a room feels! It was odd… I can’t explain it, but it had to go. The paint color we painted over it is not completely different, but it’s definitely cooler. I’ll share the formula below because it’s a custom color.

To some, the paint below may look just like the paint above, but it’s actually much cooler. It’s white, but there’s definitely a bit of warm gray in it.

The color may look a little familiar because it’s our “Stokes White” paint color we custom made with Sherwin Williams, but lightened at 50% strength! We had Stokes White (we just chose this name because we had to call it something in the computer, haha) in our entire last home and we also have it in our play room (now office) and our guest room! But note, the colors in all of these spaces is at 100% strength. I shared that formula here.

So if you’re looking for an almost white color with a hint of warmer grey in it, then this is a good bet! We have put this color in various rooms in two totally different styles of homes (one old home with little natural light) and now this one with tall ceilings, new, and tons of natural light… the color just works so well everywhere!
