This time two weeks ago, we were at Montage Palmetto Bluff, which just so happens to be one of our favorite places on Earth. I often mention to people when describing how much I love this property… it’s not just the way it looks, it’s the way it makes you feel. Something about it instantly relaxes you, but also doesn’t leave you searching for things to do. From boat rides, hunting, and shooting, to spa experiences, pool time, and shopping, to golf and tennis, to porch sitting and socializing with friends—there’s honestly just something for everyone. It evokes all the senses—the smells of the food, the sounds of music playing in the background in your room and common areas, and the sights, of course, are incredible. I could stare at the May River all day.

Today I’m going to give you a little glimpse into our time at Montage Palmetto Bluff. We certainly don’t overextend ourselves while there, that’s for sure. We spend most of our time exploring the property, swimming at the pool, and hanging around at the cottage. But we so enjoy soaking each other up in what is quite honestly the most quintessentially “lowcountry” place I’ve ever been. You’ll actually find this blog post very similar to last year’s recap.

First I’ll show you a few pictures from around the property and then I’ll break it down to what we did each of our four days. Also, I wanted to mention that, as a parter of Montage Palmetto Bluff, I’ve been given a promotion to share with all of you.

If you use code MSTOKES when booking your stay from now until the end of the year, you’ll receive:

Where did we stay?

There are many different types of accommodations at Montage Palmetto Bluff, including rooms at the Inn, suites, cottages, and residences. We stayed at a riverfront cottage this year, just like we did last summer as well. It has one bedroom with a living room, small kitchen area with a fridge and sink, and then a wide screened porch across the back overlooking a yard area and then the May River. I highly suggest the cottage option if you’re a small family or a couple looking to indulge in an amazing view! The living room sofa does pull out into a bed, which is where we were going to have the kids sleep, but as it turned out, we just all snuggled up on the king bed and fit just fine!

The screened porch spans the entire back of the cottage. It’s where we spend most of our time when we are there!

All of the cottages have a steam shower. It’s incredible.

Now that you know where we stayed, shall I break it down by day? I had some people ask if I could explain in detail the things to do with children, so maybe I can try to paint the picture of what our days looked like. You’ll see a lot of repetition, amounting to what is probably my most photo-heavy blog post ever, so hopefully my site doesn’t crash because of it!

Day One:

We arrived to Montage Palmetto Bluff and enjoyed a glass of wine on the back porch while Watson and Rosie stretched their legs and played for a while. The dress below is linked here.

After getting settled in, we headed to an early dinner.

We ate at Buffalo’s for dinner. We eat here every time we are at Palmetto Bluff—breakfast, lunch, or dinner… it is just too good. This time I had the mussels and a caesar salad. (ps. this particular caesar is the best on the whole property!)

Rosie and Brandon split a pizza. You can see she was a happy girl! Watson enjoyed the spaghetti.

Then we headed back on the golf cart to go make s’mores!

Usually, s’mores are made at the River House every night with all the “fixins” displayed on the cutest s’mores cart you’ve ever seen, but as a safety precaution, the front desk was handing out individual s’mores kits. Then we went to the fire pit outside of the Inn to make them!

Day Two:

Every morning, we had a big breakfast at the cottage on the porch. The in-room dining is one of the best menus I’ve seen. (You and I both know that in-room dining is always overpriced, so it has to be worth it.) The food was delicious. So delicious that we ordered the exact same breakfast each morning. Watson and I are cheering for the delicious breakfast, while Rosie is like “lemme get that fresh squeezed OJ!”

This particular morning was a little grey and cooler, so instead of heading to the pool, we took the golf cart all around the Palmetto Bluff property. (By the way, you can rent golf carts on the property! Bikes too, although many accommodations come with bikes.) We went to an area called Moreland, which is a neighborhood area with a restaurant, bowling alley, and other amenities—even a super fun treehouse! There are actually multiple treehouses on the property, which is so fun for the kids.

The view from the top!

Then, surprise surprise… back to Buffalo’s for lunch. There are quite a handful of places to eat while at Montage Palmetto Bluff, but Buffalo’s might be our favorite if you can’t tell. This is the turkey BLT and wow was it good.

Then we walked next door for ice cream at Melt!

Watson is so sweet and wants to share the foods he loves with all of us. Rosie, on the other hand, will not share!

Lucky for us, the sun then decided to come out. Brandon took the kids to the pool while I was able to sneak away for some spa time! This picture below was right before my Vitality of the Glaciers facial. Highly recommend. It promotes collagen and I could see an immediate difference afterwards in terms of my skin looking glowy and feeling rejuvenated.

That evening, we walked around the property some, then had a pizza dinner on the porch back at the cottage. Wow, I just realized it was from Buffalo’s also. I promise we ate elsewhere during our trip!

Before we ended the night, we went back for s’mores! We also got to visit with some good friends who live in the area and came to hang at the cottage with us. That was definitely a highlight.

Day Three:

Such a beautiful day. It started out with breakfast on the porch.

Then some exploring in the “yard.”

Then we went straight to the pool!

There are multiple pools on the Montage property. The family pool is our favorite, which I think would be the case even if we didn’t have kids with us! It’s fun and lively, yet relaxing at the same time. It’s also a full-service area, so you can order drinks and food, or whatever you need.

My suit is linked here and you can save $10 off your order with code HOLYCITYCHIC10.

Later on, we walked over to take the kids fishing. Or rather, just Watson. Rosie supervised the situation.

I love this caftan, by the way.

For dinner, we were planning to go to Cole’s, which is our other favorite restaurant on the property and has a really relaxed atmosphere, but instead we saw these food trucks over by the River House. We grabbed a bottle of wine from the room and then food from the trucks, then ate with the kids outside overlooking the May River. It was a great choice.

Of course, more s’mores before bath and then bed. 🙂

Day Four:

We started off with breakfast.

Then went fishing on the dock! You can see how that went for Watson.

Silly sisters!

Aren’t these Mott 50 x Sally King Benedict bathing suits the cutest?

Then we went back to the pool to cool off. We ate lunch at the pool on this day and the day before. The pool restaurant, Fore & Aft, is so good!

This seersucker puddle jumper cover is an amazon find that is under $10! It comes in other colors, too, like pink, green, and lilac. We have it over this puddle jumper, which was Watson’s.

Watson was a little fish the whole time.

Then back to the cottage to pack up for home, sadly.

Before leaving, we drove around and took in the property one last time. It’s always so sad to leave!

Also, I’m sure many of you are curious about the safety of the property in regard to Covid-19. I was very impressed with the safety precautions the staff has taken to protect the guests, such as having all employees wearing masks, pool closures twice daily for thorough cleaning. no-contact room service drop-off/pickup, and much much more. I especially felt comfortable because we were in a separate cottage, but I would have felt very comfortable at the Inn as well just due to how thorough the property was in terms of safety and cleanliness. They also have these “be healthy” kits in each room!

Until next year, Montage Palmetto Bluff! Or maybe sooner if I’m lucky.
