I know I’m likely leaving out a few I should mention and have simply forgotten, but here are some of our absolute favorite books to read Watson and Rosie. Books we all enjoy… books that can actually captivate the attention of a two and four year old simultaneously! Not only that, but these ten books also have sweet messages that are important for little people to learn.

Some of our favorites…

Tales of Wonder

This sweet book is not only beautifully illustrated, but the words will transport you to another place far, far away. I think this book is one that children of all ages would enjoy. It definitely inspires wanderlust and gets the imagination spinning!

Lola Dutch

This one gives me lots of Eloise at the Plaza vibes, as it’s perfectly pink, whimsical, and has a super cute story as well. The central focus of the Lola Dutch books is friendship and creativity. There are quite a few books in the Lola Dutch family. Another one we have is Lola Dutch, We Love You So Much, which we also love!

I’m Like You, You’re Like Me: A Book About Understanding and Appreciating Each Other

Over the summer, I’ve picked up quite a few books about diversity. This is by far the best one we’ve read. I cannot recommend it enough! Not only does it teach important lessons on comparing, acceptance, kindness, listening, understanding of self and others, and cooperation, but it also has a story and illustrations that little people really seem to enjoy and can easily grasp.

Rosie Revere, Engineer

We received this as a gift when our Rosie was born and have enjoyed reading it over and over since then. It has such an empowering message intertwined within a quirky, fun story. I love that it focuses on the importance of patience, persistence, and how we often fail and fail again while on the road to success. Never too early to instill that example in our children.

If I Built a House

This book is too fun! It reads very much like a Dr. Suess book in terms of the rhyming, but it actually has a well thought out, captivating storyline to it. It really takes imagination to the next level, so it’s super inspiring for little creative minds.

The Fuzzy Duckling

An absolute classic that is still just as sweet as I remember it as a child.

The Wide-Mouthed Frog

We’ve read this one so many times that the pop-up parts are ripping off! I don’t know who enjoys reading it more, Brandon or the kids. It’s all about a bragging frog who goes about his day as he meets with other outdoor friends, but when he comes face to face with the big alligator, his tune changes pretty quickly! The pop ups are what makes this book so fun.

Guess How Much I Love You

Just the absolute sweetest book and it happens to be Rosie’s favorite. She picks this one every time. I especially love it because my mom and I have always said we love each other “to the moon and back”—and still do, which is the line mentioned in this book. So this one is extra special!

Little Blue Truck

This book teaches the rewards of helping others in such a fun way. In fact, the whole Little Blue Truck franchise is just as great! We own quite a few as these have been Watson’s favorites for years now.

Dr. Suess Books

Another beloved classic that needs no introduction. Watson actually has a collection of Dr. Suess books that belonged to Brandon as a child. This set is a perfect gift!
