new house update: plumbing fixtures

Hello! It has been a while since I’ve given a proper blog post update on the house front. If you’ve missed my previous updates, they are all stored here under the home tab. I’ve not given you a glimpse of the plumbing fixtures we’ve chosen, so that’s what’s on the docket today. That’s faucets, tubs, toilets, shower heads… all that fun stuff, by the way.

I should start by saying, we picked absolutely everything out at a showroom called Moluf’s, which is an old Charleston classic when it comes to plumbing fixtures. Before heading there, I considering ordering our fixtures from the internet. You can find some great pricing at various places like that. But something told me that this could come with a lot of risks and I should stick to a local showroom for these items.

Boy am I glad that I did.

I did not realize that when you order a kitchen faucet, let’s say, that there are quite a handful of other SKUs you need to go along with it. I wouldn’t have had any clue what those were if ordering online. Also, I cannot imagine ordering a plumbing fixture online without seeing it in person!! Being able to go to a showroom and see everything in person was invaluable. Things I thought I was going to like weren’t actually the fixtures I was drawn to in person. Finally, what could have taken hours upon hours ended up taking a fraction of the time because of the advice we received, guiding our selections. Choosing plumbing fixtures for an entire house is no small feat!

All this to say, I will be so quick to recommend Moluf’s to anyone in Charleston and I wanted to be sure to share that with you all, too. Even if you aren’t local, I highly recommend finding a showroom near you because I think trying to do it all yourself at a big box store or online will end up being very overwhelming if you’re trying to outfit an entire home!

Brandon had just finished a workout to meet me at Moluf’s here. 🙂

A big chunk of our plumbing fixtures are by Rohl, as recommended by our designer Betsey Mosby. Their pieces are timeless. Worth noting that Moluf’s carries a big range of brands, from Delta to Waterworks and lots in between!

I think what I’m most excited about is this unlacquered brass faucet by Rohl. We actually got two of them, one for our main sink and then one for the back kitchen.

We went with a farm sink in our kitchen, but I chose the one below. It is squared off, which to me gives a slightly more contemporary feel. The brand is Shaw. (Can you see how the sink above is more rounded at the bottom and the one below is more square?)

This cutie little faucet is going in the butler’s pantry!

Along with this circular sink below.

Next up… tubs! This one below is what we used in the kids’ bathroom and my office bathroom (which might be another bedroom one day, if we have more children). Except you can order it with a bare front, allowing it to be tiled to match the rest of the shower. That’s what we did!

And this is the tub for our main bathroom, below. We didn’t see this one in person, so…. fingers crossed!

Very excited about our bathroom fixtures! We chose a Polished Nickel finish, which has a warmer look than Chrome, but is still in the silver family.

I saw this vanity and faucet setup below and ordered the whole look for our powder bath! We will add our own marble on  the top.

We are doing a similar vanity in our guest bath as well, but with a wall mounted, unlacquered brass faucet.

Got to be honest, it feels awkward sharing our toilet selections on here, but who knew there were so many to choose from?! The one on the bottom left is what will go in every bathroom except the powder bath, which will be the one on the bottom right.

Oddly enough, I don’t have a photo of the faucet we are using in the kids’ bathroom vanities and in our main bathroom, but the faucets look very similar to this one below (nearly exact) but by Rohl.

And this is what is going in my office bath. This polished nickel beauty from Newport Brass!

If I’m not mistaken, we are using a wall mounted version of this faucet in our guest bathroom.

Not to go on about Moluf’s, but another great thing is that I was able to choose my faucets, and they immediately could add the coordinating shower heads, tub filler, etc. to our order. It made the process so easy. But again, if you’re not in Charleston, any local showroom should be able to offer the same benefit.

That’s all I’ve got for today!

Hopefully soon all of the fixtures will be installed and I’ll be able to share some real life photos of them installed!
