House update, volume… actually who knows. We are almost at the two year mark from when we closed on this property and when I tell you I’m anxious, excited, stressed, nervous, emotionally drained, and just so ready for it to all be complete… it’s true! I told Brandon, “Shoot! We have been planning and building this home for longer than we’ve even owned our other three houses!” Well, our last house was a little longer, but still. This whole construction process isn’t for the faint of heart and while I am so thankful we’ve been able to do it and with a building team we love, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do it again – ha!

All this to say… we are finally getting to the really good part where the finishing touches are going in and I’m excited to share them in a little house update. For those of you who have asked that I share more house updates, I’m sorry I haven’t done more of it! I’ll do it way more as the selections I made through Betsey start to come in. In the mean time, I do have a tab at the top menu under the “home” category that is called “new home build.” There I’ve saved the previous blog posts all about this project. So if you’re new here, you could start there if you’d like!

The biggest recent change is that our countertops are in! They are super dusty in this picture. It’s a bianco carrara marble, which we selected through Vitoria and had fabricated through Granite Guyz. Both are wonderful teams! We went back and forth on what material to use. We had marble two homes ago, then in the last house we had Quartz, so I’ve had both and while the upkeep of quartz is 100x easier than marble, we sort of wanted a classic, “working kitchen” feel in here that felt a little more organic than Quartz could provide. So we went with marble again! The next phase of marble will be that slabs are mounted on the walls as a backsplash. So stay tuned for that and I’m just over here praying I like it, haha!

The same counters went in our laundry room, which will later be wallpapered in Casa Branca Papavero Off White & Celery. You can see a little sample of it on the counter!

In the back kitchen, we chose a leathered Negresco counter from AGM. The walls and trim will all be painted Sherwin Williams Black Magic!

Seeing the plumbing fixtures installed is another thing that has made a big difference! All of ours are from Molufs, which I talked more about here.

We did the same Negresco counters in my office bath. My favorite bath in the house! The walls are Benjamin Moore Simply White.

Here is the guest bath. Lousy photo, but sharing anyway because I love this tile from Garden State Tile. The light is from Circa Lighting! That’s where all of our lights are from. And if you’re local to Charleston or anywhere where there’s a showroom, I cannot recommend them enough. We worked with Dominique and Acacia at the Charleston showroom and they were amazing.

So in our primary bath, Brandon and I have this calacatta marble that I’m in love with. Our bathroom otherwise is very… white. So this is a great punch of interest.

We chose polished nickel fixtures for this space.

And had our trim team put in this picture molding, which I’m in love with. The walls, trim, everything in here is painted BM White Dove Semi-Gloss.

We did a little change up to the lighting arrangement in my closet due to the joists getting in the way of centering my lights. So here’s Brandon visualizing it all. 🙂

The lights were installed on our porch, too. Still waiting on the center fixture, which will hang over the main door. Also waiting on shutters! Also, a good pressure washing is in our near future.

Betsey and I decided to reuse my Ballard Atoll mirrors in Watson and Rosie’s jack & jill bath. I have two, so it was perfect since they each will have their own vanity/potty room flanking the tub room. Can’t wait for you to see the wallpaper we are doing in here! The vanities are painted Farrow and Ball Pale Powder. The picture on the right is the base of the sconces for their vanities!

Last minute, we decided to do built-ins on either side of this fireplace. Pics coming soon!

But in the meantime, our sconces were installed… and B is happy. These are Ralph Lauren from Circa.

The electricians came this week to wire in our sconces and mount the brackets, so we spent a good five hours marking sconce locations before they came. This is a hallway going back to our bedroom! We will hang some sort of art underneath.

This is going to be a little not-so-secret, secret hideaway for the kids!

Breakfast nook all painted and lighted! This is BM White Dove, which is the main white we did all throughout except for Simply White in my office.

Rosie made a tie dye shirt at school and has it over a dress and a cardigan sweater, if you’re wondering what is going on there. ha!

BM White Dove again in the foyer… This is all semigloss since it’s wood. I have been asked a few times about the sheens we used! It was drying here, so that’s why it looks a little splotchy in spots.

Makings of a powder bath…

And I think Betsey and I have decided on this Annie Selke Samoa Sand wallpaper for the guest bath! It’s what we had in the dining room at our last home!
