I recently picked up a handful of new beauty products to try and there are definitely a few standouts. It can take a lot to impress me with beauty products. I used to be the beauty editor for The Everygirl and have always had a strong emphasis on beauty through my own social channels, so I’ve tried… a lot, to say the least. Through the experimentation, I feel like I now have very high standards when it comes to skincare, body care, and makeup. So when I feel like something is good, my hope is that you feel the exact same, even though beauty products can be so very personal. For me, here are three products that check all the boxes!

Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Setting Powder

Without a doubt, the best setting powder I’ve ever tried. It’s really no surprise because Pat McGrath, the creator of this cult-classic line, is a celebrity makeup artist who was in need a powder that blurs the skin, yet is completely undetectable under the high powered photo shoot lights. And that’s just what this is. (Sometimes these “invisible” powders can actually leave a powdery, non-skin-like layer on the skin and cause a white cast during flash photography.) I use shade Light Medium 2, which has a yellow hue to it and brightens my skin, while erasing pores and minimizing shine but in a satin, non-matte way.

Fable & Mane HoliRoots Pre-Wash Hair Treatment Oil

Many of you know I’ve been on a journey to strengthen my hair. Not only is it damaged from highlighting, but it has really thinned out and become brittle lately. I’m not sure if it is related to covid, stress, some hormonal imbalances, or (likely) a combination of all three! I’ve been on top of my hair supplements, which has helped, but I needed to bring in some extra help. That’s when I found this pre-wash treatment oil at Sephora and it has blown me away big time. I think anyone could benefit from this because it strengthens and hydrates the scalp and roots, plus it seriously helps to repair damage. It is very oily, so I put it on my hair at night before bed, allowing it to sit on my hair for a long time, and then I wash it out the next day. It’s a clean brand but smells heavenly in a very soft way! The next day? I can noticeably tell a difference after I style my hair post-treatment. It looks more hydrated and healthy. Those brittle pieces look softer. My hair looks more full. It has more of a sheen to it. Honestly, it gives better results than any deep conditioning treatment I’ve ever tried.

Westman Atelier Super Loaded Tinted Cream Highlighter in shade Peau de Peche

If you want to look like you’ve just gotten back from a tropical vacation, this is the product to give you the glow. I know there are tons of products out there that will do the same to a degree, but this one really looks like skin and not makeup. That’s what differentiates it. I like to apply it just where the sun would hit me, so to the tops of my cheekbones, right on the bridge of my nose, and along the top of my forehead—all just minimally! It’s pricey, but if you’ve tried Westman Atelier products, you know her products are not only clean, but they are super concentrated and last forever. And her luxe packaging gives the warm fuzzies whenever you hold it in your hands.
